Swing Tech

As swing tech you will be working with the various technical departments of Stagedoor as needed including (but not limited to) the scenic workshop, lighting lab, props shop. 

Typical duties include:

  • Assist designers with finding and retrieving stock items in storage

  • Assist as a stage technicians (running crew or follow spot operator) during show weekend, for which you will attend technical rehearsals

  • Work with the lighting department with setting up and taking down the lighting rigs in all theatre space at the start and end of the season

  • Assist with load-in of scenery, change overs, and strike

  • Other duties within the individuals skill set as requested by management 

 

You must have a good working knowledge of general theatre practices.

All of our staff works together as a team to help successfully get all 14 productions up and running each session. We look to our tech team to utilize your complete skillset not just your primary talent. So when we need you, you will be asked to help other departments finish up those last few projects before opening. Whether is be helping sew on those last few buttons, painting projects, or even doing last minute lighting checks. We all jump in to help everyone finish on time. 

Carpenter Swing Tech

Carp Swing Tech

You will be working with the various technical departments of Stagedoor Manor as needed. It will include (but not limited to) working in the scene shop, lighting shop, and building props. 

 

Typical duties include:

  • Assist designers with finding and retrieving stock items in storage 

  • Assist as a stage technician (such as running crew or follow spot operator) during show weekend, for which you will attend technical rehearsals 

  • Ability to work outdoors in hot and rainy conditions 

  • Work with the lighting department with setting up and taking down the lighting regs in all theater spaces at the start and end of the season

  • Assist with load in of scenery, change overs, and strikes 

  • Other duties within the individuals skill set as requested by management 

  • Good working knowledge of general theatre practices

Props Swing Tech

Props Swing Tech

The Props Swing Tech position is a unique chance to be part of the props team whilst providing support to the other technical departments when necessary. 

A key part of the role is to become familiar with our prop and furniture storage inventories. These are a vital tool in designing and need to be kept up to date and clear. ​Throughout the session, you will work with all props artists to support on their more prop heavy shows. This could include assisting in the sourcing of a tricky item or helping on a build. An ability to be flexible with your workload and being able to communicate with your team is essential.

As swing tech you will be working with the various technical departments of Stagedoor as needed including (but not limited to) the scenic workshop, lighting lab, props shop. You must have a good working knowledge of general theatre practices. You will be responding to the needs of the other technical departments to help where needed, management will place you where you feel most comfortable. This may include run crew or follow-spot roles on shows, assisting lighting technicians with setting up, assisting load in, change overs, and striking scenery. 

Key skills include: 

  • Confident computer skills and a head for inventory/stock management 

  • Flexible and organized approach to workload

  • Technical ability in a range of materials and departments

  • Work in a team with good communication skills

  • Your schedule will include working late nights

 

You will work closely with the props team lead to manage your skill set and your workload across camp.
